Ecommerce keyword research guide for marketplace sellers.
Good keyword research is not a giant list. It is a prioritized map of how buyers describe your product, problem, material, use case, and comparison set.
Start with five keyword buckets
Separate discovery keywords from conversion keywords
Discovery keywords are broad, such as “lunch box” or “kurti”. Conversion keywords are specific, such as “steel lunch box for office leak proof” or “cotton kurti for daily wear”. Your title needs the strongest conversion phrase, while descriptions and FAQs can cover broader variations naturally.
Use marketplace autocomplete carefully
Autocomplete can reveal real buyer language, but it does not tell you profit, competition, or conversion quality. Combine autocomplete phrases with competitor titles, review language, ad search terms, and your own sales data.
Turn keywords into page sections
The best listings spread intent across the page: primary keyword in the title, use cases in bullets, objections in FAQs, specifications in image callouts, and variants in backend keywords where allowed.
